I love everything about newborn sessions. As parents we work so hard to create a safe and loving home and spend so much time designing the perfect nursery to bring our new babies home to. I get so excited when parents choose to do an in-home newborn session! As a photographer, part of me gets a little nervous doing in home sessions because each space is so different and you never know exactly what to expect in terms of lighting. However, I know that these in-home photos always turn out so special and usually end up being some of my favorites. I love seeing a family interact in a space where they are already completely comfortable, it makes it so easy for the love and happiness to shine through so bright in the photos. Skylar, Ivy, and baby Laney’s in-home newborn session did exactly this and it was simply magical!
A few months ago I was lucky enough to capture maternity photos for Skylar and Ivy (if you haven’t already, check out their sunset maternity session which is also on the blog!) and I knew just how excited they were to meet their sweet Laney! Laney made her arrival during the Coronavirus pandemic so we didn’t get to do the fresh 48 hour session as planned and had to wait a little bit longer than normal to capture these newborn photos. Laney was already 6 weeks old when I met her and although her parents had to wait for this session they will now have photos of her sweet, little details to look back on forever. She slept through pretty much the entire session and was most content when being held by her parents who are already wrapped around her little finger. Laney is absolutely perfect and already so so loved.
