I have been in a season of maternity sessions this year — and I have truly been loving every minute of it! There’s something so special about photographing a couple during one of the biggest milestone moments of their life because I get to witness (first hand) a changing and growing love between them and their new little one, and save it for generations to come. I got to photograph Skylar and Ivy’s sunset maternity session earlier this year in a beautiful open field. We had to reschedule their session due to rain and I am so glad that we did because we were blessed with the most gorgeous, glowy, sunset light!
During the session I was completely struck by a how Skylar and Ivy are both so so joyful. They smile constantly and contagiously. They are so genuinely happy about life and in love with each other. It was so lovely and refreshing to be around. It is so clear how much they enjoy doing life with each other and how excited they are to welcome their sweet baby girl, Laney, into their family.
This session took place in the last few weeks of winter, you can still see some snow on the ground in a few of the pictures. It was still pretty cold during the session (we even had to take a little break to warm up in our cars half way through) but you would never be able to tell because it is their love and joy that clearly shines through in the final images.
Skylar and Ivy, I feel simply honored that you’ve invited me to be part of your life for these precious, but fleeting moments. I hope you love looking back on these memories just as much as I loved seeing them through my lens. Congratulations on the newest addition to your family!
